Terminator: Dark Fate - Every Easter Egg & Reference We Spotted

14. Immigrants In Cages

Terminator Dark Fate Rev 9
Paramount Pictures

Dark Fate has a number of real-world concerns on its mind which are touched on fairly superficially, such as the intrusiveness of modern technology and, mostly overtly, America's current policy on illegal immigrants under Donald Trump.

The film features an extended subplot where Dani and co. are captured by border patrol and placed inside, you guessed it, a holding cage.

This is surely a thumbing of the nose at Trump's widely-criticised immigrant detention policy, where "offenders" are placed in cramped cages until they're deported.

Given the film's abundance of Latinx cast members, not to mention the hilarious scene where Rev-9 adopts a stereotypical southern accent in order to blend in with some cowboy hat-wearing cops, Dark Fate is, no matter its flaws, at least a film with something current and topical on its mind.
