Terminator Genisys: 10 Reasons It Could Surprise Everyone

7. Byung-hun Lee And Jason Clarke As Villains

Terminator Genisys
Paramount Pictures

The Terminator franchise has always had exceptionally strong villains, and one of the factors that makes them all the more impressive is that they’re usually played by low-profile actors.

So, in following the same mould of casting the first Terminator, we have a foreign actor, known to North America for his action-oriented roles, in Byung-hun Lee. As the T-1000, Lee fits the part beautifully, because even if the dramatic side he showed in I Saw The Devil doesn’t get to shine, he’s proven himself as a physical presence in the GI Joe films.

Conversely, Jason Clarke has appeared in all sorts of movies, but remains an unfamiliar face to many. The Australian has had incredible turns in Zero Dark Thirty, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and The Great Gatsby, so it’s certainly reasonable to be expecting big things out of him, especially with him as an unhinged, yet morally-superior villain.
