Slash Film were considerably more enthusiastic in their review when it came to their appraisal of Arnold Schwarzenegger, saying, "Genisys also marks a return to the humor and heart that Arnold brought to the series in Judgement Day ... Arnold has some really humorous moments in this film which will have you laughing out loud." Screen Daily concurred, describing the ageing action stars as "the movies greatest attraction," with his grey hair and wrinkles lending his role "an undeniable poignancy, acknowledging that no machine (or franchise or Hollywood star) is indestructible."
