Texas Chainsaw Massacre: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Leatherface

6. He Was Almost Played By Dolph Lundgren

In 2003, Michael Bay and the folks at Platinum Dunes decided to create a remake, or rather re-envisioning of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. At the time, it seemed that the studio preferred to just go back to the well and redo something that had been a success in the past, rather than, you know, come up with something original. They went with a script penned by Scott Kosar and chose music video director Marcus Nispel to direct their film. When it came to hiring their new Leatherface they turned to none other than Ivan Drago himself, Dolph Lundgren. After considering the role, he ultimately turned it down. Which is sad, for us. How glorious would it have been to have a Dolph Lundgren Leatherface slice a teen's leg off, impale him on a meat hook, and with a thick Russian accent proclaim: "I must break you"? Don't even kid yourself. You know you'd pay money to see that. The role eventually went to Andrew Bryniarski, who did a fine job, but one can't help but wonder what could have been. And the fact that we wouldn't have had to seen Lundgren's face is just icing on the cake.
