9. Despicable Me 2
Admittedly Despicable Me 2 is not as good as its predecessor but it still succeeds with its charming characters (who doesnt love those adorable yellow minions, or the feral purple ones?) and gorgeously detailed animation. The story also miraculously did not fall victim to the usual animated sequel traps of repeating the original. Nope, Despicable Me 2 is a continuation picking up right where the original left off, now exploring new themes and plotlines such as retired criminal Gru seeking out someone fit to help raise the recently adopted rascal children. In a summer of mostly awful children films in general (Planes was seriously awful), Despicable Me 2 manages to buck the trend and offer smiles for both adults and kids alike.
