10 Biggest Things The Hunger Games Movies Have Left Out

9. They Don't Explain The Wolf Muttations

In the end of The Hunger Games movie, we see Katniss, Peeta, Thresh and Cato pursued by giant wolf-like dogs within the arena. They're responsible for the deaths of Thresh and Cato (though Katniss technically mercy-kills Cato due to his injuries). These dogs are called Muttations and their presence in the movie is never fully explained beyond "yet another awful thing for the Capitol to throw at the Tributes". In the book, the reality is much more horrific. The Muttations are in fact hybrids of wolves and the already dead tributes. Each of the animals has the eyes and hair of one of the fallen teenagers. It's hard to say if they decided it was too hideous or just too unbelievable for screen.
