10 Biggest Things The Hunger Games Movies Have Left Out

3. Peeta Isn't Beaten On TV

This is a relatively minor omission plot-wise but it goes to show that the tone of the movies has been generally less confrontational than that of the books. When Peeta is being held prisoner in the Capitol, he is interviewed on television. When the rebels in District 13 interrupt the broadcast to show Peeta the destruction of his home district, he goes off script to warn District 13 that they'll be bombed. In the film, the broadcast cuts out after that. In the book, however, Peeta is brutally beaten on camera, with graphic descriptions of his spilled blood. It's likely Peeta is still beaten off screen in the film but it's not made explicit.
