6. Channing Tatum
Perhaps the second nicest surprise of 2012, Tatum proved to be the winning factor in two of the years surprise hits - nobody expected 21 Jump Street to be as good as it was, or for Magic Mike to be as successful as it was, and that was in no small part thanks to Tatum, who has made everyone look past the exterior and show an interesting, articulate performer who takes the odd risk and is richly rewarded for it. Steven Soderberghs most unlikely collaborator will re-team with him this year for Side Effects, and will have an extended role in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Lets hope this is just a blip for one of the years most deservedly-popular stars.
