The 14 Dumbest Things In Star Trek First Contact

8. Crusher Character Assassination

Star Trek: First Contact
Paramount Pictures
CRUSHER: Once the Captain has made up his mind the discussion is over.

Since. When?

Star Trek: The Next Generation was the show where virtually every other thing that happened resulted in a “conference.” How did we get from that to the Captain’s word is law and we don’t question it? Starfleet was right in their lack of confidence in Picard where the Borg are concerned. He's emotionally compromised here, and the subject of command fitness is something Crusher, of all people, should be raising big time.

The dialog should be put on trial for character assassination of Beverly Crusher.

But, as with most of the TNG cast outside Picard and Data, Crusher was crushed down to supporting player status, and lines that by rights ought to have been hers were given to guest character Lily.

That’s Hollywood. But it’s dumb.
