The Amazing Spider-Man 2: 10 Mistakes To Avoid

2. Reboot J. Jonah Jameson

Jameson-OReilly If there were a nemesis more important to the success of the Spider-Man franchise than The Osborne family, or even Venom himself, it would be J. Jonah Jameson. A menace to both our friendly neighborhood web-slinger, as well as his less super powered persona, Jameson's temper is only matched by his acidic wit as he rules the roost at The Daily Bugle. However, as we all know, newspapers aren't exactly selling at the rate they used to back in the days of the character's comic origins. However, if you remember the first film correctly, steps have already been taken to not only re-integrate, but also to modernize, this central character. During the events of The Amazing Spider-Man, events were being reported by The Daily Bugle... which is now presented as a TV station/internet blog. This is not only the perfect way to upgrade Jameson into a more Fox News parodying presence (think Bill O'Reilly), it's also the perfect way to move Peter into not only freelance photography, but also freelance video production. Imagine Jameson having his own hour-long show, in addition to being the head of Daily Bugle TV; with Peter Parker providing the videos and images that The Bugle uses to smear his good name. It goes against the pre-established comic canon, but it also helps add a more modern/satirical spin on the news media so often lampooned by days of Spider-Man past.
