Over the years, various details have emerged about The Amazing Spider-Man 3, its sequel, and a few of those cancelled spin-offs. You might want to buckle up for this bit, because things are about to get nuts.

As evidenced by Sony's desire to make a Sinister Six movie, that villainous group would've been at the heart of the story going forward, with Marc Webb telling Den Of Geek that Norman Osborn - aka the Green Goblin - was planned to be its leader.

You might recall that Osborn actually appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (played by Chris Cooper), where a disturbing genetic illness killed him off. So how could he lead the Sinister Six if he was dead? Well, according to Webb, Osborn's head was going to be frozen, allowing him to be brought back to life.

Again... weird.

As well as getting their own spin-off, Webb also indicated that the Sinister Six would've been the main threat in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, adding that the filmmakers also discussed bringing in the Vulture.

Paul Giamatti has also confirmed that he was set to appear in the film as Rhino, which makes sense considering the final scene of The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Another interesting tidbit (and another character returning from beyond the grave) is that Gwen's father, Captain Stacy, could've been brought back.

In 2015, actor Denis Leary revealed that there was talk of The Amazing Spider-Man 3 featuring a "formula" that allowed Peter Parker to bring people back from the dead, which could've also opened the door to Gwen Stacy's return, as well as her dad's:

"There was this idea, at one point, that Spider-Man would be able to take this formula and regenerate the people in his life that died. So there was this discussion that Captain Stacy would come back even bigger in episode three."

Yeah, maybe it was for the best that Spidey joined the MCU.
