The Avengers Alien Villains Teased By Toy Line?

MTV Geek may have unearthed a pretty big indication of what famous Marvel villains appear in May 4th's ensemble blockbuster The Avengers. Or it may end up not meaning anything either way but if it does mean something this can be considered a HUGE spoiler.

The site have got their hands on some toy photos of film tie-in products that are on display at the Jakks Pacific showroom at the New York Toy Fair 2012 this weekend, one of which is titled 'Mighty Battle Skill & Strategy Game', a board game where the objective is a €œbattle for the Cosmic Cube€. The board game appears to show a Skrull as a playing piece. It certainly, undeniably looks like one anyway. The Skrulls have long been rumoured for the film but Marvel have gone out of their way to deny they will make an appearance this summer. Clearly though from the recently released Super Bowl trailer the villains certainly look alien and somewhat like these Skrull figures. Recently Superhero Bits did a photoshop enhancement from the commercial. You tell me if there is a resemblance... This certainly looks like the giveaway that Skrulls will be making an appearance. However before we get carried away we should remind ourselves that movie merchandise licenses sometimes borrow from the wider universe of the characters and their comics history. Let's not forget that the villain Deathstroke featured in The Dark Knight action figure toyline back in 2008 and did not appear in Chris Nolan's film. The Avengers is due May 4th, 2012.
