The Avengers Film: 5 Reasons Why Hawkeye Wasn't Well Received

3. He Doesn't Have Any Flashy 'Light-em up' Super-Powers

He can't shoot plasma beams or smash cars with green fists, but he can be a game-saver. He can definitely be there for The Avengers when they need him, to pick off an oncoming attacker with his precise marksmanship. In order to be an entertainment asset, Hawkeye will have to act like Legolas from Peter Jackson's Lord of The Rings. And he can really be a blown-up version too: It's a marvel super-hero movie after all. He does some neat things in quite a few of his scenes: he jumps from a building while simultaneously shooting off an arrow to save himself; shooting off a target whose moving at extremely fast speeds. But he needs the humor to follow his conclusive shots, the one-liners that they can insert as a quote underneath a large poster of him standing with bow in hand. Without that, he's nothing but a Resident Evil style, slow-motion bad ass, which is still something.
