The Avengers: Ranking The Marvel Films That Came First

3. The Incredible Hulk

Again, I can hear the trolls sharpening their pitchforks and dousing their torches in paraffin at my placing of this. It didn€™t set the box office alight, and it€™s rarely praised by critics or audiences. And I find it hard to figure out why this isn€™t given the respect it deserves. Iron Man introduced me to the character, and the same goes for most people, but The Incredible Hulk actually made me love a character I never really liked before. Don€™t ask me why, but until watching this I preferred The Thing to The Hulk. The Thing! Ang Lee€™s Hulk had left me so cold (as it would any 8 year-old) I thought The Hulk was a boring character. Well, how wrong I was. Without a doubt, the best thing about the film was Edward Norton€™s performance- despite Mark Ruffalo doing an exceptional job, my heart sank when I learnt Norton wouldn€™t reprise his role as Bruce Banner. Recasting Rhodey I could live with, but this was such a major upset€ Norton was marvellous in this film, as was Tim Roth, as was William Hurt, as was (yes, I€™m going there) Liv Tyler. The design of The Abomination, the factory scene€ This was just a much more entertaining and interesting movie for me than the other Marvel Movie to come out in 2008, but sadly I seem to be in a minority.
