The Avengers Superbowl Spot Has Frost Giants & More Hulk

Joss Whedon's The Avengers gets a new extended trailer in time for tonight's Superbowl.

The Superbowl always throws up some important adverts, as well as offering over-blown "stars" like Madonna with the kind of bloated spectacle that they are perfectly suited to, and arguably the biggest of all of this year's offerings was the one showcasing Marvel's upcoming superhero ensemble The Avengers. The trailer once again highlights the importance that The Hulk is going to have in the final film, as well as offering a glimpse of what appeared to be Frost Giants attacking, which begs the question of their role in the film, and the possible link to Loki's possession of " an army". http://youtu.be/bGt-saFvkNk All-in-all a very impressive trailer, though it does still feel like Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye will be relegated to a seriously limited side-role, since he is effectively wrestling focus from three charismatic lead actors, a giant green CGI spectacle and a hotly in a bad-ass catsuit. That would be a terrible shame, as both the character and the actor deserve more, but it is perhaps only a limitation of the trailer process at this stage. Still, we can't wait to see this one, and everything seems to point towards impressive execution from Joss Whedon, as expected. And the added screen time for the big green monster at amped up the excitement factor. The Avengers debuts in the US on May 4th.
