The Avengers Were Re-Assembled To Film Post-Credit Scene Last Night

Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr confirm that one last night of filming took place last night, just two weeks ahead of the film's release.

Despite being just two weeks away from its UK release and with many press screenings already in the bag, The Avengers has not yet finished filming! Well actually it has now, but the film didn't officially wrap until last night (Thursday). Marvel and director Joss Whedon re-assembled The Avengers last night for one more outing, filming a scene that will turn up at the very end of The Avengers. This is likely a post-credits scene and one that could setup up the direction for the next couple of chapters in the Marvel universe on screen and was probably purposefully left until the last minute to shot so the details of what is included wouldn't leak ahead of release (though it probably will anyway). Robert Downey Jr revealed the existence of the extra scene yesterday afternoon at the press junket for The Avengers and despite denials from Whedon, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, multiple sources would later confirm the last minute filming, including Mark Ruffalo who wasn't shy in revealing it was a post-credit scene. Though the word is that nothing too major will be revealed in the scene. Ruffalo said at the press conference; "We€™re shooting a scene tonight. I€™m not sure exactly where it€™s gonna go. All I know is that someone came in with the costume and said, 'Here€™s some wardrobe. We don€™t know where you€™re going to be or what you€™re doing.' " Ruffalo said. We asked if it will be in the "The Avengers" when it hits theaters Ruffalo added, "Yeah. So I€™m like, 'All right, when are we doing that?' Today after we€™re done.€ We imagine that the scene is now being added digitally to the screenings in time for the film's release in a fortnight but probably not in time for the fan screenings that began taking place across the globe this weekend.
