The Batman: 10 Characters The Arkham Asylum TV Show Should Introduce

9. Lazlo Valentin (Professor Pyg)

The Batman Arkham
DC Comics

Originally a government employed chemist, Lazlo Valentin produced a powerful new drug intended to erode the mind of those exposed to it. A victim of his own work, Valentin developed schizophrenia and an obsession with "fixing" individuals, kidnapping them and sculpting them into his twisted vision of perfection.

Suffering through numerous grotesque surgeries, such as icepick lobotomies, unnecessary amputations, and barbaric versions of gender reassignment, those that survived Pyg's operations were reborn as "dollotrons", mindless and unrecognizable shells of their former selves.

Professor Pyg is a disturbing character. In a gallery full of deranged and sickening rogues, he is arguably the most unsettling. Although he might fit perfectly in the grim, gothic universe Matt Reeves has created, the gruesome nature of the character and his actions may be too intense for the general audience. With Reeves confirming the series will lean into the horror elements of the psychiatric prison, debuting the character in Arkham Asylum would allow him to fully dive into the horror of Professor Pyg.

Pyg would have no trouble finding a home in the series; whether his abhorrent actions are used merely as a device to showcase the evils that haunt Gotham, or if the psychotic surgeon will play a larger role, is hard to say. Having created such a dangerous drug, it's in the realm of possibility one of the many corrupt doctors of Arkham may take a personal interest in Lazlo Valentin.
