The Batman: 10 DC Comics Villains Perfect For Matt Reeves' Sequel
7. Lonnie Machin (Anarky)
It isn't often that an adolescent is depicted as a main villain.
Using Lonnie Machin as the central foe in a Batman film would be entirely unique. He's in his teenage years in many comics, with him a rogue who the Dark Knight has never faced on film before. Machin is a compelling villain because he can be sympathized with. He desires to end political oppression and poverty. This would put him at odds with the Gotham elite.
There is more to Lonnie than just ideals, though. He's also a gifted computer engineer and has a brilliant mind. Machin could launch cyber attacks and threaten the already faltering stability of Gotham.
Anarky's political views could inspire other characters to follow him and carry out physical attacks against the wealthy and powerful people of Gotham. This would provide challenges for both Batman and Bruce Wayne to overcome. Most importantly, a story involving Machin would feature heavy moral ambiguity. It would play perfectly into the tone Reeves has set up.
