The Batman: 10 Huge Rumours That Would Change Everything
Let's hope that at least one of these comes true!
Though the current Hollywood landscape is dominated by comic book movies, it's the Marvel Cinematic Universe that is largely responsible more so than DC. While Joker may have been a complete success, it is the DC Extended Universe that has been disappointing at just about every turn.
With the exceptions of Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey, there haven't really been any outings from the DCEU to reach the lofty heights of 'above average'. However, with the franchise's first Batman movie scheduled to hit cinemas in October 2021, things could be about to change in a big way.
Arguably DC's greatest ever character, there is a lot of pressure on Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson, and Warner Bros. to produce something special. Even if we are treated to a strong comic book movie, there will always be comparisons to the likes of The Dark Knight trilogy, so The Batman needs to be something truly amazing if it is going to live up to such lofty expectations.
It's important for Matt Reeves' movie to stand out from what has come before it, and make its own mark on both the DCEU, and the character's history. Naturally, there are plenty of rumours flying around regarding the movie, some of which would be absolute game changers, and would go a long way towards achieving this.
10. There Will Be Six Villains
Of all the superheroes, from both DC and Marvel, Batman has one of the richest, and deepest rogues galleries going. While the Joker is without question the Caped Crusader's greatest ever foe, there are dozens of fantastic characters that could be utilised on the big screen.
Some of these have enjoyed many iterations through the years, whereas some have seen their screen time rather limited. In previous years, both Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher decided to play around with a plethora of antagonists, and it seems as though Matt Reeves may be preparing to do the same thing in 2021.
According to the rumours, Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne will be coming up against no fewer than six bad guys in his debut appearance. Already confirmed for the movie are Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, and Carmine Falcone, leaving two more slots to be filled. Of course, any villain big or small could turn up, however it is reportedly likely to be Mad Hatter and Firefly.
The villain obsessed with the world of Alice in Wonderland, and the lesser known Firefly - who has made appearances in both Gotham and Arrow - would make for refreshing choices, though with four other antagonists to compete with, aren't likely to have the biggest roles in the movie.
