The Batman: 15 Details You Missed The First Time

9. The Riddler's Cards Foreshadow Alfred's Bombing

The Batman Riddler
Warner Bros.

Mid-way through the movie poor Alfred is gravely wounded when he intercepts what turns out to be a letter bomb sent to Bruce by the Riddler.

This is slyly foreshadowed, however, by two previous cards that the villain leaves for Batman. First off, when visiting the site of Commissioner Savage's (Alex Ferns) murder, he finds a card depicting a mad scientist creating a chemical concoction of some sort.

Later when opening the card stuck to Gil Colson's chest, it shows a woman answering a phone.

Put these two cards together and you have the Riddler creating the homemade bomb and Bruce's housekeeper Dory (Sandra Dickinson) answering the phone when Bruce calls her in a panic.
