The Batman: 6 Actors Who Could Play “Year One” Bruce Wayne

Had things gone to plan, Armie Hammer would’ve already played a young version of Batman. Indeed, it seems quite remarkable that the actor, still only 31 now, was cast in that role of George Miller’s never-to-be-filmed Justice League: Mortal.

Since then Hammer’s career has faded and risen again - there’s a reason he’s now regarded as one of the internet’s many boyfriends - but while his classic good looks make him an easy fit for Bruce Wayne, there’s something interesting in seeing him go a bit darker and really challenging himself further.

You can definitely see him as a billionaire with a hint of arrogance and a slight aloofness to his character that draws people to him but keeps them at arm’s length, and he has the frame for Batman too.

With the right director, though - and Matt Reeves is legitimately brilliant - there’s another, darker side to be brought out in him too. He’d be a very different kind of Batman, but coming so soon after Ben Affleck - and being the third take on the character this Century - that’s to be welcomed.
