The Batman: 9 Things That Are Impossible If Ben Affleck Returns
3. The Long Halloween
Just as it's impossible to do Year One because Affleck's Bat is established and has been operating for nearly 20 years, so too is it impossible to take on follow-up story The Long Halloween.
The seminal arc works best, specifically because it is an early years story with a still fairly new Batman, Jim Gordon as a Captain and a pre-Two Face Harvey Dent. The story soars on their dynamic in particular, and it would take a lot to write in Dent after 20 years of Batman's activity and having him not be transformed into a villain already.
There are of course ways around the logistical problems of adaptation, but all would require losing something from the source, and this is the kind of story that deserves to be told in full and unmolested. It should form the middle part of a new trilogy, in fact, but that's wishful thinking as long as we have the old, established Bat in circulation still.
