The Batman: Dream Casting Matt Reeves' Trilogy

8. Basil Karlo AKA Clayface - Henry Cavill

Mr Freeze
Paramount

It's strange that a mainstream live-action film hasn't attempted to bring Clayface to the big screen yet. A villain as iconic and unique as him should have been attempted by the studios by now, but alas, most movies we've got so far have tried to stay grounded - and sadly Clayface isn't the most subtle of villains.

The draw for Clayface would be the abused and mutated theatre actor who becomes a shape shifting villain for Batman to contend with. While it might be easier to make a realistic Clayface a man of many disguises, it would be fun for Matt Reeves' Trilogy to plunge into the supernatural.

About the casting; Henry Cavill is an objectively handsome man. He's Hollywood Handsome. Stick him in a period-piece movie and he'll be right at home. So if you're going to centre your villainous Clayface around an actor gone mad, it would make sense to cast someone who looks incredibly Hollywood.

Now, Henry Cavill is still technically Superman, but the likelihood of him returning is decreasing. Should he make a return to superhero films, a one-off role as Clayface would be more ideal. And if not Henry, then cast someone Henry Cavill adjacent in looks and physique.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
