The Batman: Dream Casting Matt Reeves' Trilogy
7. Jonathan Crane AKA The Scarecrow - Domnhall Gleeson
Cillian Murphy's portrayal of Jonathan Crane in The Dark Knight Trilogy was brilliant, and in Batman Begins especially we got a sterling imagining of the crazed psychiatrist. But as the trilogy went on, Scarecrow's appearance' were diminished to cameos, and unfortunately the films didn't show us more of his maniacal mannerisms.
Fear as a plot device is something that never gets old in Batman stories, so bringing Scarecrow back for another round would be welcomed with open arms.
The right actor to play him would have to be someone who can carry them self as an intellectual with sinister undertones, but mask that at times with a charming exterior.
Domnhall Gleeson is a great candidate for the role of Jonathan Crane. Besides bearing a physical resemblance to the versions of Crane in the comics and animated series, his own voice itself rings of what the Scarecrow would sound like.
Gleeson's role in the new Star Wars trilogy gave him a free space to showboat a high-pitched, snivelling, enraged and sometimes haunting role. If he were to adapt this do cackling over drug-induced fear hallucinations, he'd surely make us jump out our seats in the cinema.
