5. Reeves Wants To Spotlight Batman's Detective Elements

Although Reeves has been attached to direct The Batman for the better half of three years, it wasn't until mid-2018 where the project began to take shape.

It was at this time that Reeves spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his overall vision for the Dark Knight, and for longtime fans of the character, the director seemed to hit all the right notes:

"It's very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale. It's told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it's going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It's more Batman in his detective mode than we've seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He's supposed to be the world's greatest detective, and that's not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been. I'd love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime, it's going to allow his character to have an arc so that he can go through a transformation."

Reeves is right. We've never really had a live action Batman story about him being a detective. Sure he's walked onto crime scenes and such, but there's rarely ever been a mystery to solve and it's made the character's title of "World's Greatest Detective" elude mainstream audiences.

In this case, however, it looks as though that's all about to change. Reeves is certainly looking in the right places as far as source material is concerned, so hopefully it'll all come together when it premieres in 2021.
