The Batman Sequel: 10 Possible Villains (And Who Should Play Them)

9. Harley Quinn – Mia Goth

Though there are already multiple live-action incarnations of Harley Quinn doing the rounds - with Lady Gaga the most recent recipient of the title within Joker: Folie à Deux - Reeves’ injection of more Joker carnage to come within his Gotham makes her introduction inevitable. Luckily for Quinn, she's a character who allows for endless expressional freedom and creative licence due to her sheer instability and unpredictability.

Undeniably someone who could love you one minute and then try to kill you the next, her emotional abuse sustained from the Clown Prince of Crime makes Harley volatile and violent to those who stand in her way. The tale of Harley Quinn is a truly tragic one, and an actress as talented as Mia Goth could bring a breath of fresh air to the mallet-wielding maniac.

The Batman introduced the youngest film portrayal of the Joker yet - Barry Keoghan the latest actor to don the infamous green hair and red smile - and with Goth falling into a similar age bracket to Keoghan, she makes for an ideal choice to play his partner in crime.

The 28-year-old's portrayal of the titular Pearl is one of 2022's best performances and displays characteristics similar to the Maid of Mischief in how you can sympathise with her for a moment, and yet be entirely terrified of her at the same time. Goth has found her forte in horror as depicted within A24's X alongside Pearl, and she couldn't be better suited to someone of Quinn's impulsive personality and psyche.
