The Batman Sequel: 10 Possible Villains (And Who Should Play Them)

8. Deathstroke – Jack O’Connell

Many of those unfortunate enough to cross paths with the Bat struggle to go toe to toe with him. However, the same can’t be said for Deathstroke.

Merciless yet efficient, accompanied by superhuman agility, strength and intelligence, Slade Wilson is a villain that could pose a troubling task for Pattinson’s Batman to overcome. Well in the running to don the cape and cowl before the formerly mentioned R-Patz won the race, Jack O’Connell could make his mark in Matt Reeves’ Gotham through the embodiment of a character such as Deathstroke.

The master assassin is unique in that he has received consistent live-action due diligence in both film and television through a host of masterful performances, and O’Connell is an actor who can continue the character’s hot streak. The 32-year-old has exhibited the physicality he can bring to the table within the likes of Starred Up, Unbroken and Jungleland, showcasing that The Balkan’s build and eye for combat should prove no stumbling block for him whatsoever.

As well as this, Wilson’s decelerated ageing and healing abilities grant him to appear as if he were in his mid-thirties as opposed to his mid-fifties, which suits someone of Jack’s maturity. Beneath his signature armour is a man overwhelmed by moral obscurity, and the Englishman’s expertise brands him a fine fit to carry the mantle next. Albeit, he may be a little on the shorter side compared to the character's comic-book stature... but it's nothing a pair of raised heels couldn't fix, right?
