The Batman Starts Filming: 10 Clues For What We Can Expect

8. It's Not Going To Be Set During The 1990s

The days of the DC Extended Universe being a true shared world appear to be over; The Suicide Squad is part-reboot, part-sequel and Pattinson is a new Batman, not a replacement for Affleck.

Look around online and it won't take you long to find rumours pointing to The Batman being a 90s set prequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which deals with a Bruce Wayne who has yet to be pushed over the edge and decide that killing the Man of Steel is the right thing to do. Well, that can be debunked by taking a closer look at some of those set photos.

The "Gotham Action News 4" vans which have been spotted are adorned with a variety of slogans, including "HD Live." You wouldn't find that back in the 90s but it is feasible that The Batman will take place in the mid-2000s. That gives Warner Bros. the freedom to tell stories that don't necessarily tie into the likes of Shazam! and Birds of Prey while leaving the door to the timelines one day matching up.

There's not a chance Pattinson is playing a young Batfleck, though!
