The Batman Trailer Breakdown: 20 Things You Must See

Next up, we get a shot of Jim Gordon stood by the Batsignal.

This iteration of Gordon is played by the marvelous Jeffrey Wright, whose distinctive tones were recently heard in the Marvel series What If...?, where he voiced The Watcher. He also popped up in No Time To Die as Bond's ally, Felix Leiter.

Interestingly, this Batsignal doesn't look like it's stationed at the GCPD building, as it often is in other Batman universes. It almost looks like Gordon has hidden it in an abandoned building, perhaps an indication that Batman isn't yet trusted by the authorities in full. There were hints of this in the 2020 trailer, with the police watching Batman nervously as he enters a crime scene.

We know that this version of Batman is still in his early days as a crimefighter, so it makes sense that the authorities haven't just blindly accepted him!

Still, Gordon seems to trust him from the off, which is in line with the pair's relationship in other Batman adaptations.
