The Best Moment Of Every James Bond Film - Ranked

6. The Spy Who Loved Me: Opening Scene

Daniel Craig Casino Royale
Eon Productions

The Spy Who Loved Me is another one where picking the best moment is tough, as it means leaving out several other genuinely amazing scenes. Still, as great as the underwater car chase and big finale are, this incredible opening is the best part of The Spy Who Loved Me overall.

The film opens with an excellent little ski chase set-piece that's full of striking visuals and tense thrills, before it concludes with this legendary ski jump stunt.

Bond jumps off the cliff towards what seems like certain death and for ages, the camera tracks him and there is silence. But then, he opens up a Union Jack parachute and the Bond theme explodes.

It is said that at a screening of the film which was attended by Prince Charles, everyone stood up and applauded during this scene, including the prince himself. It's not hard to see why.

When you factor in that this is a completely real stunt (performed by Rick Sylvester) with no special effects anywhere, it gets even better. This is, simply put, a masterful piece of action cinema that'll leave you picking your jaw off the floor and it's among the greatest stunts ever put to film.
