Russ Meyer - also known as King Leer - was an incredibly talented film maker - the most successful independent film maker of all time. Adored by perverts like me - people seem to either really love or hate Meyer, depending on their tolerance for large chested women getting the better of wimpy, milquetoast men and the super fast editing that Russ Meyer (RM) was so fond of. As a woman, I have never been offended by any of RM's work, his films are hysterically funny and the sex is hilarious for the most part rather than erotic. RM used sex as a comedic weapon to comment on the nature of man-woman relations. His later films have a distinctive cartoonish feel as the volume of sex gets into hyper mode. But RM was a versatile man and could direct semi-serious films whenever he felt like it.
