Stambler's theory/warning isn't without real-world precedent and The Cloverfield Paradox is essentially a Large Hadron Collider anxiety horror.

As the scientists at CERN try to understand the universe more by using the LHC, critics have vocally challenged their assumptions and suggested that the experiments could open up portals to other dimensions or Hell.

There isn't quite the same sci-fi suggestions as Stambler posits concerning monsters crossing over and alternate dimensions fighting for dominance, but the film definitely dials into existing anxiety.
