The Conjuring 2 Review: 6 Ups And 2 Downs

The Downs:

2. Too Much, Too Fast

The Conjuring Roof
Warner Bros. Pictures

What is The Conjuring 2's biggest strength is also one of it's biggest weaknesses. Wan has so many ideas and throws them into the film that some of them come out a little undercooked.

Interesting concepts are ten a penny, but not all are carried through to fruition. That's not a massive issue in the grand scheme of things, but it means some beats that would be strong enough to power a whole movie wind up getting mere minutes of screentime (particularly odd in a movie this long).

Don't go to the toilet if you think you'll only miss a slight dialogue scene - people got up in my screening and by the time they were back were already in the middle of another night of demonic-induced terror.
