The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It - 6 Best Easter Eggs
5. Psycho
This is a two-for-one special as near the start of the film during David's exorcism we get not one, but two Psycho references.
When Father Gordon arrives at the Blatzel house to assist the family the shadowy figure of a woman can be seen in the window, this is a direct call back to when Norma Bates does the same thing in Hitchcock's movie.
The beauty in this reference is that if you look even closer you will notice that the figure is the occultist woman who pulls the strings throughout The Devil Made Me Do It, just as Norman Bates did while impersonating his "mother" in Psycho.
The second is when David hides from the demon behind the foggy shower curtains and is later sprayed with blood, this one is in reference to when Janet Leigh was killed during her famous shower scene.
The extreme use of blood is a callback to the classic horror film, although I doubt they used chocolate syrup this time.
