2. Why So Serious?
A joke is a very serious thing. Winston Churchill Gotham City has become darkness and gloom. Its cops are corrupt, its mob is desperate. And the so-called savior is fear incarnate. Enter the Joker, and his question is quite simple to this city: why so serious? This city is so caught up in its self-image of noir and doom. Joker, while a reflection of Gotham, is hoping to add a little humor in the style of the city: schadenfreude. TheJoker comes off as someone who recognizes the city for what it truly is, and isnt afraid to laugh at something so terrible. He alone gets the joke. He understands everything, and thats why he laughs the hardest.
