The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Mysteries The Film Must Answer

4. Where is Robin?

Batman and Robin. They go together like€well, like Batman and Robin. Again I return back to the fact that Nolan has made Batman his own. I€™m under no illusions that this is what makes his take fantastic. It€™s our Batman but seen through Nolan€™s unique lens. But if there€™s one major incongruence between the Nolan world and the main canon Batman comic book world, for me it€™s the absence of Robin. Now you may have a bad Robin taste in your mouth after Schumacher shot him down your throat in his abysmal Batman and Robin movie/extended Mastercard commercial and maybe he is a little too €˜comic-book€™ for Nolan's world. But he€™s such a huge part of the mythology that I€™ve been expecting Nolan to work him in there somehow. We€™d be psyched if he showed up in some form in TDKR, even if it was just in a more peripheral role (a€™ la Victor Szasz in Batman Begins). I guess we€™ll know soon enough.
