The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Questions We Still Want Answered

10. Wasn't Giving Blake The Keys To The Bat-Cave INCREDIBLY Irresponsible?

By the end of The Dark Knight Rises we know John Blake is Batman's heir apparent, and regardless of what name he might take on €“ the suggestion is almost certainly that Bruce Wayne intended him to become the next Batman €“ it appears he will go on to be Gotham's protector. And surely nothing can go wrong €“ he has the Batcave, and all of Batman's technological gadgetry to back up his burning need to right the wrongs he sees, includng the double-standards of the police. But Blake has very limited training €“ he was trained by the same Gotham police department discussed previously €“ and is ostracised by his superiors for being a €œhot-head€ and a rookie, and has had no opportunity to develop the same kind of skillset that Bruce Wayne had to go through rigorous and painful training with Ra's Al Ghul among others for. But even more dangerously than that, Blake has no affinity with Gotham police, after turning his back on active service because of Commissioner Gordon's deception, and is severely pissed off with the army and the government after the whole school bus situation. So what Bruce Wayne basically did was equip and weaponise a disgruntled vigilante with a vendetta against a police department and other agencies of government including the army that he sees as corrupt and inhumane. That will make for a more compelling Dark Knight figure if Warners ultimately decide not to reboot, but it doesn't make much sense for the smug sense of finality that Nolan injected into the final scenes of Rises. So, what do you think Bat-fans? Are you still replaying your problems with The Dark Knight Rises? What would you have done to change it? Share your thoughts below...
