1. It Would Give Catwoman The Proper Introduction She Deserves
Catwoman truly is an iconic character - the first and most prominent of the conflicted female antiheroines, the first who worked for herself and by herself, the rebirth of the classic
femme fatale. Unfortunately, however, there hasn't been a chance for her to truly shine in a Batman movie, let alone a movie of her own. Apart from... well... let's just say it, Halle Berry's
Catwoman (2004). While Berry puts a lot of effort into it, the film is just too much of a feline-soaked litter tray of a movie to actually truly represent the real spirit and heart of Selina Kyle - Catwoman ends up fighting an immortalised, crystalline-in-human-form Sharon Stone over face cream for God's sake - and it's just so disappointing that a prime chance like this to reinvent the character and give her her dues was so poorly executed and conceived. That's why we need a Catwoman movie - there have been plenty of Batman ones, plenty of opportunities where the Dark Knight himself has shone and proven to be more than a man. But unfortunately, Catwoman just hasn't had that chance yet - Michelle Pfieffer's spirited take was a delight but against Anne Hathaway's dark, sultry and gritty take on the iconic claw-bearing cat burglar, it doesn't rank well. Selina Kyle needs a chance to spread her own wings, to explore in her own time and in her own movie who she is and let the audience get to know her beyond the skin-tight bodysuit and the laconic drawl. She's a dark heroine, an avenging angel and a master criminal. She deserves a film and the moviegoing audience deserve a movie that honours this. Hope you liked my reasons for giving Selina Kyle/Catwoman her own movie - if you have any other reasons or suggestions, feel free to stick them in the comments below. Happy holidays!
