The Dark Knight Rises - 10 Things We Are Still Talking About

10. Any Other Business

When making this list there were a number of considerations that didn€™t quite warrant their own segment so here€™s a quick run through of any other business. - The addition of Selena Kyle was hugely entertaining. Anne Hathaway€™s performance exceeded all expectations though her arc didn€™t pass without a couple of issues. Firstly, as has been pointed out, the inclusion of the subplot with Juno Temple€™s Jen seemed a little unnecessary other then to promote Selina€™s Robin Hood-esque moral standing. Although Temple€™s star is now on the rise, if a complete unknown played Jen it would perhaps not have garnered the same attention. Also, correct me if I€™m wrong, but isn€™t Catwoman (I know the name is never mentioned) supposed to be a little more morally dubious? Speaking as someone who bought fully bought into the climax on the whole, one thing that was never really in doubt was her intention to help out. And would she really be there with Bruce in that last scene? - The relative lack of CGI for a summer blockbuster was impressive and hugely refreshing. - I don€™t personally agree with What Culture€™s recent list triumphing Nolan as the greatest director of the 21st Century, and although he occasionally gets a little criticism for his action scenes, his penchant for spectacle is a joy. The grandiose opening scene of TDKR was so unnecessary but so brilliant. James Bond-esque, surely he€™s next in line? - I was more than happy to buy that Blake recognised Wayne as Batman almost immediately, what I didn€™t realise until the end of the film was the Gordon didn€™t know, yet it took the rather tenuous talk of a jacket around a boy€™s shoulders for him to figure it out. - Stop complaining about the time bomb device, all you pedants go back and watch it again and enjoy it for what it is. If you can successfully do that and you€™re feeling ambitious, go back and do the same with Prometheus (results may vary).
