9. Cringe-worthy Dialogue
Its not all bad of course; in fact TDKR presents some pretty stylish dialogue in parts, much of it coming from Bane. But there are also sections of dialogue that made me cringe and again, for a film with such accolades, Id really hoped this wouldnt be the case. Take Batmans big Im back moment with Bane during the riot sequence for example. After Bats escapes fromwell, wherever that prison was, its not exactly made clear, Bane says something along the general lines of: Ah, I see youve come back to die with Gotham, to which Batmans response, who bear in mind is supposed to be one of most intelligent characters in the DC Universe, is Im not here to die Bane. Im here to stop you. Yeah, great come back. This isnt the only occurrence; there were many lines that elude me at this moment (and will until that second watch through) that just werent copacetic, many of them coming from the reams of clumsy, forced exposition that littered the films opening sequences.
