9. Cringe-worthy Dialogue

It€™s not all bad of course; in fact TDKR presents some pretty stylish dialogue in parts, much of it coming from Bane. But there are also sections of dialogue that made me cringe and again, for a film with such accolades, I€™d really hoped this wouldn€™t be the case. Take Batman€™s big €œI€™m back€ moment with Bane during the riot sequence for example. After Bats escapes from€well, wherever that prison was, it€™s not exactly made clear, Bane says something along the general lines of: €œAh, I see you€™ve come back to die with Gotham€, to which Batman€™s response, who bear in mind is supposed to be one of most intelligent characters in the DC Universe, is €œI€™m not here to die Bane. I€™m here to stop you.€ Yeah, great come back. This isn€™t the only occurrence; there were many lines that elude me at this moment (and will until that second watch through) that just weren€™t copacetic, many of them coming from the reams of clumsy, forced exposition that littered the film€™s opening sequences.
