3. Make It Official
It was made very clear that John Blake would go on to become Batman's successor, whether it be Robin or Nightwing. We all knew that he was
going to become Gotham's next hero, but for some that just wasn't enough. I would have liked it to be official. I would have liked to
actually have seen John Blake in costume. Here's one scenario where that could have happened.
Setting: Gotham City, just before John ran off to help the children cross out of the city.
Story: Batman had just approached John Blake about the importance of keeping his identity safe but in this version he told him a little bit more. Imagine if Batman had told him to go somewhere in the city and get something. That something is John's very own Nightwing suit (it's later revealed that Bruce had been working on several things for John to use as Nightwing). Back in Gotham, John takes the suit out of the container and puts it on (all this is shown, except for John in the suit). Remember when we saw Batman fighting Bane and it was Catwoman to the rescue? Well, in this ending, John Blake is the one who bursts through the wall and saves The Bat. Now, we see John Blake in his suit fighting alongside The Bat. Can you imagine how awesome that would be? The bomb would still be a threat, so Batman (despite John's protests) would still fly out and "die". But, the closing scene would show Nightwing getting on the Bat-Pod and zipping off into the night.
