The Dark Knight Rises: 5 Reasons Why Nolan Leaving Batman Isn’t All Bad

3. The Bat Suit

Here€™s where the arguments begin. I don€™t like Nolan€™s Bat-suit. I didn€™t like the cumbersome look in Begins and I don€™t like the streamlined version in the Dark Knight. The cowl looks too much like a helmet. Bale€™s face looks crushed in the jaw line cut and the fact we can barely see the Bat-symbol simply annoys me. Yes, I get the arguments. It€™s easier to move in, it€™s more realistic, it€™s more real world. In a movie were a man is dressed as a bat, has an unstoppable batmobile tank and in Dark Knight Rises a Bat-plane-helicopter thing and goes up against villains with €˜fear toxins€™ I can leave real world believability at the door. Visually the Nolan suit works in the world of Nolan€™s Batman but once again, it€™s Batman Returns that seems a better version for me. Look at that suit. That is Batman brought to life. His silhouette would tell you who he was immediately. When he fights the cape flows with every move and the Bat-symbol is there for the world to see. As is tradition, a new director means a new suit. So I€™d like to see something midway between between comic cook Batman Returns customer and Nolan€™s real world fit. Arguable, that€™s what the Batman Begins costume was but that€™s such a goofy looking version of the Batsuit really.
