The Dark Knight Rises: 9 Things Nolan Should Have Done

2. Dispensed with the al Ghul€™s

Another Selina Kylesque inclusion, I just can€™t see any reason for Talia being featured as the main antagonist, which she was when you consider that she was the mastermind all along. There€™s just too much here to tie together, and in the end Talia€™s inclusion served to add yet another focal point to movie that already had too many. Sure, I like custard, broccoli, beef and chocolate, if they€™re on their own or blended accordingly, but all together, the goopy mixture would make me vomit. The same applies here. Bane was, for the most part, a solid movie villain €“ he was part of some great scenes, that were probably made better by his inclusion €“ but he was incomplete, especially compared to Ledger€™s Joker. For me, two things would have completed him as a Batman character: 1) If he both subdued and defeated by Batman, not in a completely forgettable fashion by Selina Kyle in a desperate attempt to have her do something of not and 2) he should have been theantagonist, not second fiddle to Talia al Ghul, who served only to steal his thunder and squander it completely in those final closing scenes.
