The Dark Knight Rises MTV New Footage Review - "Let The Games Begin"

A lot has been seen before but not like this...

Having just watched the MTV Movie Awards, you have to understand that my heart has been stopped for the last few minutes while writing this. New footage of The Dark Knight Rises, presented by director Christopher Nolan and actors Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has just blown the doors off any establishment that has doors! The footage began with clips from Batman Begins and The Dark Knight that made presenter Christian Bale tear up in regards to Heath Ledger... Then they introduced Nolan. God. The real Bat-Man. Then Bane said €œlet the game's begin...€ (Holy Shit Moment!) A lot has been seen before but not like this. It starts with an interrogation of Selina Kyle by John Blake. She has done bad things and the cops know it, yet she remains calm by telling him "a girl's gotta eat." Without hesitation, Blake remarks she has "quite an appetite." Bridges get blown, fighter jets race to Gotham for aid. Selina teases someone not to be shy. And then Selina as Catwoman explains to a stupid punk that "he's behind you" and Batman startles him by hanging upside down like he did in Batman Begins. Then the true fandom kicked in and made me teary eyed: an older cop tells his young parter he's in for a show... And that's when the geek in me felt whole. Anyone who has read Frank Miller's seminal Dark Knight Returns series knows that one of the most important panels has this exact scene mirrored before the Bat-Man's triumphant return. Perfection. I say again that I think this will be Nolan's "take" on that comic. (picture Bane as the mutant leader of sorts.) Snowblower Strikes Back by 2012TDKROther new things of importance: Bane crouching in some weird room, Catwoman perched in a subway saying to someone "don't be shy," and a brief glance at the Batcave. The action and special effects glow with gloriousness and all seems right with the world. Bane's voice is better than ever. He seems to welcome any type of physical altercation. Tom Hardy appears so confident in these clips that it hurts. Ditto for Anne Hathaway. And ditto for the Bat-pod which does that funky wheel thing it did in The Dark Knight. Excitement is not even a known word to me anymore... The only words I have are THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. PS- if Joseph Gordon-Levitt was a nobody in this film, why was he the guy to introduce Nolan while Bale and Oldman looked on? He also has his own action figure... :)
