The Dark Knight Rises Sequel: 10 Things Warner Bros Must Get Right

9. A Nolan Style Villain

I understand the argument that one positive that can come out of Chris Nolan giving up the Batman universe is the opportunity for the more fantastical version of Gotham's protector to appear on our screens but I think it would be wise for the next movie to ease in these elements over the course of the next movies. The Dark Knight Rises sequel should mostly look to keeping the elements that have proven to be so successful in the previous films and that has been the realistic way that the villains have been portrayed. So there shouldn't be a Killer Croc or Solomon Grundy or The Mad Hatter terrorising Gotham but instead it should be villains who can be grounded in reality. The likes of Lex Luthor as mentioned above or The Riddler, Dr. Hugo Strange or The Penguin. Our preferred choice for the villain would either be The Penguin or Black Mask to be tied into Blake's criminal past. Perhaps The Riddler could be an additional side villain but if Blake's parents were killed by a mob boss then The Penguin or Black Mask would seem to be the way to go.
