The Dark Knight Trilogy: 10 Best Villain Moments

6. "Talia, My Mother Named Me Talia"

Unfortunately I pretty much spoiled the Talia reveal for myself as I scoured the web for set pictures during the filming of The Dark Knight Rises, but even so - it was great to see her turn. What's even greater is the fact that her true identity is actually telegraphed earlier in the film. At one point in the movie she tells Bruce to "do what is necessary", or words to that effect, which directly echo her father R'as' words in Batman Begins: "Like your father, you lack the courage to do all that is necessary." At the party hosted by 'Miranda Tate' she tells Bruce of the importance of "bringing balance to the world", again echoing the words of R'as Al Ghul in Batman Begins: "Every time a civilization reaches the pinnacle of its decadence, we return to restore the balance." And finally, Talia stabs Batman in the back, which harks back to yet another of R'as' lines: "When someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the back." The Talia reveal surprises on two levels. Firstly, you realise she is not Miranda Tate but is in fact R'as Al Ghul's daughter, but secondly, that she was the child who escaped the (Lazarus) pit as a child, not Bane.
