The Dark Tower Movie: 5 Biggest Mistakes It's Already Made

3. No Clear Plan Going Forward

Stephen King has confirmed Dark Tower is technically a sequel to his books, but anyone who's read them will know it's also going to be a retelling of the story... sort of.

So, what's the problem with that? Well, the fans will be keen to know whether the rest of the story is ever going to make it to cinema.

Sony Pictures should have thrown its full weight behind Dark Tower from the start, pencilling in dates for each of its sequels, like Warner Bros did with Harry Potter.

Instead, it appears to be playing a cautious game, biding its time to see whether the movie is well received before committing to any sequels, beyond the vague promise that Ron Howard's proposed TV tie-in might still be happening.

It would be sacrilege if we ended up with a big-budget retelling of The Gunslinger but The Drawing of The Three and its other sequels never made it to the screen.

Let's hope the Tower's architects manage to build it up further after the first films lays down the foundations, but the lack of a clear roadmap is alarming.
