The Dark Tower Movie: 5 Biggest Mistakes It's Already Made

2. That Line By Jake Chambers

The Dark Tower Idris Elba
Columbia Pictures

"If you let that tower fall, then billions of people will die".

It seems like an innocuous enough line of dialogue spoken by Jake Chambers in the trailer, but it's sent a ripple of discontent across the fanbase, and with good reason.

The movie is being pulled up on this for the simple reason that Roland does not need any encouragement to seek out the Dark Tower, nor does he need reminding what is at stake if he fails to make it there before the Man in Black.

From page one of the first novel, the character is hellbent on finding the mystical structure. It's in his thoughts to the point of obsession and is his ultimate destiny.

Having Jake plead with Roland to stay the path and remind him of the stakes suggests that the filmmakers either lack a firm understanding of both characters, or have tampered with the source material something fierce.

Either the way, the fans are right to be worried that this may not be the Dark Tower they know and love.
