The Equalizer 2 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

1. It Leaves The Door Open For A Threequel (And That's A Good Thing)

It's not exactly a spoiler to say that end of the movie leaves the door open for The Equalizer 3, and honestly, it's just as well.

Given how many action sequels fall desperately short of their predecessors, it's refreshing to see a mid-brow thriller that delivers the unpretentious goods and sets the table for a third go-around if the fans desire it.

It remains to be seen whether or not it will happen, of course: this was Washington's first ever sequel and the movie's box office has been relatively soft so far, but if international grosses can give it a tasty boost, The Equalizer 3 could still end up on the cards in a few years' time.

Washington is so inherently watchable in this film, even when he's merely doing his day job as a lowly cab driver, that a third film feels like a no-brainer on paper.
