The Equalizer 2 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Fantastically Brutal Sound Editing

Though the action sequences are sharply filmed and impressively choreographed, it'd be remiss not to give credit where it's due to the film's sound editors.

Every single hit, slam and bone break feels wince-inducingly real thanks to the brilliantly crunchy, crisp sound effects.

While even bigger-budget action flicks often resort to over-familiar impact sounds pulled from Hollywood sound banks, the action sounds here are uniquely meaty while never going too far into cartoonish territory.

There will be many times where you'll probably be left cringing at the brutality of the violence on display, and the sound is an under-appreciated part of the reason why.
